Suburban Philadelphia Data Center
Malvern, Pennsylvania
The 100,000 square-foot suburban Philadelphia data center houses medical information computer systems for a global service provider. The project adds new standby generators, 35 kV switchgear and 480 volt substations in a Tier IV configuration. The three new 1600 kW, prime-rated diesel generators augment the existing 2.5 MW plant with paralleling and auto-transfer switchgear. The four new 3000 kVA substations will re-supply power to all loads in the building without any downtime to the existing computer systems, while safely working on only de-energized equipment. A new building will house the four substations and emergency gear in fire-separated rooms. The project budget is $12M, which is almost all for electrical equipment.
